The terms Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Visual Basic, Excel, and Fortran PowerStation are the property of Microsoft Corporation. In this document, the term Windows will refer to any of Microsoft's 32-bit operating systems for brevity.

Under Windows, all commands are executed through menus listed along the top of the screen or from the toolbar just under the menus. Although you can access commands through the keyboard, it is generally more efficient to use a mouse.

In this manual, the process of moving the mouse across the screen over a command or object and pressing the mouse button once is called point and click. We say that a symbol or text is highlighted or selected when it changes (inverts) color. For brevity, we may request that you select or click on a command. By this we mean you should point and click on it.
