Set North The Set North window allows you to determine the orientation of the vertical axis of the Model window relative to geographic north. Setting north is not necessary for most models. Knowledge of north relative to the vertical axis of the screen is required, however, in order to export a capture zone into Lambert coordinates for display in Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) or Geographic Information System (GIS) programs (See the Export Capture Zone in Lambert Coordinates command under the File menu and Chapter 4). The Set North window includes an Angle text box and Set North and Finished buttons. The cursor changes to a crosshair. Draw a line in the Model window indicating north. The value in the Angle text box will change, reflecting the angle, in degrees, of the line measured counterclockwise from the vertical axis of the Model window. You can also directly enter a value in the text box. North is set to whatever value is displayed in the text box when the Set North button is clicked. |
